Does Medicare cover the cost of senior living facilities?
Medicare does not cover the cost of living in assisted living facilities.
Does Medicaid cover the cost of senior living facilities?
The answer to this question varies on a state by state basis. Theoretically, Medicaid may cover part of the cost of living in seniior care facilities, depending uppon the senior’s financial needs, but the way in which this applies varies significantly from state to state.
How do we know how much care my older loved one needs?
We determine this based upon our assessment of your senior’s condition and abilities, along with any related physician’s reports and other sources of information.
Do we pay you for your services?
No, you do not pay us. We are paid by the facilites in which our clients take residence.
How do you decide which facilities to recommend to us?
Our recommendations are based upon the senior’s health care needs, budget, and location

What do the terms “placement” and “referral” mean?
Placement or referral are terms used to describe the process of finding a new home for someone who may need extra care or help.
What is respite care?
Respite care is the term used to describe situations in which the senior only needs to be in assisted living care for a short time such as just a few days or weeks.
When should we call for placement or referral help?
Call us when your senior:
– Needs help with activities of daily living, like dressing, bathing, cooking, cleaning, taking medications, eating, walking, issues with toileting and you cannot do this for them all the time.
– Is afraid to be alone and you cannot be with them all the time.
– Is not able to manage their finances or their judgement is impaired, or has been a victim of senior fraud or abuse.
– Requires 24 hour care or supervision and you cannot provide this 24/7 help.
– Has dementia or other significant cognitive problems.
How are the facilities that you recommend licensed and monitored?
The answer to this varies on a state by state basis. In most states, assisted living facilities, both large and small, are licensed, regulated and monitored in some manner. In most states, such facilities are subject to routine visits, sometimes unannounced, from state personnel to make sure that they are following state laws and regulations. Note that this applies to “assisted” or “care” facilitie. In most states, “independent living” facilities, those not providing assistance or care, are not licensed or monitored.
How much does it cost for seniors to live in assisted living or residential care facilities?
The monthly fees vary widely from one facility to another and is set by the facilities themselves, in most cases. Those fees take into acocunt a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the amount of care required, the cost of the real estate upon which the facility is built, the cost of compliance with Federal, state and local laws and regulations, the cost of utilities and overhead including labor costs, payroll taxes, insurance, and many other factors. Also, facilites are free to decide how competitive they wish their prices to be in comparison to other facilities.
